Proper nutrition in a diet is a very important part of a healthy lifestyle and personal wellbeing, so that you should try and stick to it as regularly as possible, in order to be safe and in good shape. Following certain fads, when it comes to dieting nowadays, is definitely not recommended since most of these programs make you limit the intake of some nutrients that are actually vital for proper nutrition.

Nutrition diets are very important for you to gain the essential nutrients for proper and healthy bodily functions. The inadequacy of nutrient intake when it comes to certain diets will only lead to sickness, loss of energy, excessive weight loss, and other mild to severe illnesses.

In order to follow and attain proper nutrition from your diet, knowledge about each type of essential nutrient and their respective sources will be very helpful. The body should not be deprived of these main nutrients as this is a form of abuse - which could be very likely to result in adverse reactions, that may well appear, or happen, pursuant to not eating properly. It isn't rocket science when learning the basics of nutrition. It is basically eating the right amount of food that contains the correct amounts of nutrients that are essential to your wellbeing.

* Fats

Fats are actually an essential nutrient in the body so it is not advised to eliminate it by synthetic means. Trans fat is a type of fat that you should be avoiding since this type of fat is dangerous for the body. It is commonly found in foods that are fried with hydrogenated vegetable oils so you should avoid eating too much fried foods. Both monounsaturated and saturated fats are beneficial for the body; however, fat in general should be taken in moderation. Healthy sources for fats are fish, nuts, avocados, and both canola and olive oil.

* Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are very essential for the body since this is what is used to produce energy for daily functions. Inadequate carbohydrate intake will lead to a lot of complications; however, too many carbohydrates will also lead to a lot of complications. A proper intake of carbohydrates should be regularly practiced avoiding any harm. Common sources for carbohydrates are bread, starch, rice, beans, fruits, vegetables, and other whole grain food.

* Protein

Protein is a crucial nutrient for proper cell, organ, and muscle functions in the body. Protein is responsible for the fast restoration of damaged tissues in the body to make it function well and to keep it healthy. A good amount of protein should be taken daily since it is an important nutrient in the body which is present and is used by all parts of the body.

* Sodium

Another vital nutrient needed in the body that has been regarded as 'bad' by most fad diets is sodium. You should know that sodium is a very important nutrient needed by the body for proper fluid balance. What makes sodium bad is too much use of it - so a regular intake of the right amount of sodium will not harm you and instead, it will help you keep a healthy body. Intake of sodium should be less than 2000 milligrams a day to avoid the occurrence of unwanted harms.
